ভূমি জরিপ, মানচিত্র অঙ্কন, নগর পরিকল্পনা, খনিজ ও বনজ সম্পদ উন্নয়ন, পরিবহন, কৃষি ও দুর্যোগ ব্যবস্থাপনাসহ বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে GIS এর ভূমিকা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
